The HCA Interative Evaluation Toolkit, launched in June 2007, is a feature of membership, available free of charge to all staff of HCA member organisations.

Why is this important?

The HCA is now a high profile and influential player in the healthcare arena which is known to promote excellence and best practice in the field of healthcare communications.  It is crucial to the continuing success of our profession that evaluation techniques are as accurate and incisive as possible. HCA members are shaping the future of healthcare communications, and we are relying on members to utilise this innovative and user-friendly system.

Development and historical perspective

The HCA has invested considerable time and resources to update our original paper based Evaluation Toolkit into an innovative online version. We have responded to member feedback so that this toolkit is even simpler to use and designed to meet the needs of everyone working in healthcare communications today.  The new electronic toolkit makes the process of evaluation simple and our vision is for it to become an integral tool for everyone in healthcare communications whether in an agency or pharmaceutical company.  Since 2003, more than 1,000 copies of the HCA's paper based toolkit have been sold and we aim to increase levels of evaluation by 10% through the launch of the online toolkit.  Many of you will have used the original HCA Evaluation Toolkit, but this new Interactive Evaluation Toolkit version provides real added-value.  It has been developed by industry experts to be user-friendly, highly impactful and most importantly, simple to navigate and print from.

How does It work?

• The Interactive Evaluation Toolkit is securely held in the password-protected members-only area of the HCA website and accessible to all registered staff of member organisations.  This allows teams or individuals to save and edit evaluation documents for all programmes
• It can be used as part of the project design phase, helping executives think through every stage of each project and its evaluation
• Download, save and print options are all included, allowing each user to attach a tailored evaluation plan to agency proposals or their company's communication plans
• It provides consistency and thoroughness to ensure gold-standard evaluation for every project
